Dundee v Rangers pitch update emerges just hours before KO amid ‘heavy rainfall’

Rangers may have their Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee postponed after a pitch inspection was called.

That is according to The Scotsman, with the publication reporting on its website on Sunday (17 March) that the pitch at Dens Park has been impacted by heavy rainfall over the last few days.

The Scotsman added that a 9.15am pitch inspection is required, with the match scheduled to kick off at 12pm.

Will Rangers versus Dundee be called off at Dens Park?

Everyone associated with Rangers will have been massively looking forward to this clash at Dens Park, for more reasons than one.

Philippe Clement’s side will be desperate to get back to winning ways after their European heartache, with Benfica knocking the Gers out of the Europa League in the round of 16 at Ibrox on Thursday (14 March).

Moreover, the Ibrox club have just had their Scottish Premiership top spot taken away from them, with fierce rivals Celtic now top of the pile after their 3-1 win at home to St Johnstone on Saturday (16 March).

The Bhoys are now a point clear of the Gers, although the latter can, of course, go back to the top with a favourable result at Dens Park.

They may, however, miss out on that immediate opportunity due to the rainfall that has taken place in Dundee in recent days.

There looks set to be a very tense run-in between Rangers and Celtic in the coming weeks, with the two going head-to-head at Ibrox next month.

In other Rangers news, Celtic fans will rage despite the recent Benfica victory at Ibrox as a UEFA development emerges.
