Chris Jack shares what Don Robertson did amid Rangers v Dundee postponement
Chris Jack has revealed that a local referee didn’t make a call on whether or not to postpone the Rangers game against Dundee on Sunday (17 March).
The Herald journalist tweeted on Sunday that referee Don Robertson deemed the pitch to be unplayable after a second pitch inspection took place.
Jack said the ball rolled on the pitch, but it didn’t bounce as the game was called off just as the Gers players arrived at Dens Park.
Dundee postponement not ideal for Rangers
The postponement is far from ideal for Rangers as they would have been desperate to regain their spot at the top of the SPL table.
The Gers were leapfrogged by Celtic after they secured a 3-1 victory over St Johnstone on Saturday (16 March) to take them back up to the summit.
Philippe Clement’s side would also have been looking to put their Europa League defeat to Benfica on Thursday (14 March) behind them as they aim to pick up more domestic honours this season.
They will now have to wait at least two weeks before they can aim to regain control of the title race, with the upcoming international break coming at just the wrong time.
But the Light Blues will still have a game in hand on their Old Firm rivals and they will be confident that they can take advantage of that once the fixture is rescheduled.
