Rangers named as Kris Boyd slams ‘farcical’ Aberdeen chief Dave Cormack
Kris Boyd has slammed Aberdeen Chairman Dave Cormack after disappearing from the public eye following a Rangers-inspired social media post while his club is struggling in the SPFL.
The chairman took to X on 3 March as he declared “We don’t do walking away” – something Boyd insisted was inspired by Rangers legend Ally McCoist’s famous rallying cry.
Ironically, he has not been heard from since, while his Aberdeen side are currently sit ninth in the league, just three points above the relegation zone, angering the former Rangers man.
Writing via his column for the Scottish Sun [15 March], Boyd shared: “It turns out the ‘advanced stage’ of the search for a new manager wasn’t as ‘advanced’ as the club told fans when Neil Warnock walked out last weekend.
“In fact, it could still be weeks before Aberdeen actually appoint a new gaffer. None of this makes any sense. It’s farcical from one of our so-called big clubs.
“Where is Dave Cormack? Has anyone heard from the Pittodrie chief since his Rangers-inspired ‘We don’t do walking away’ social media post?
“The Dons fans chanted ‘Sack the board’ at Dens Park on Wednesday. ‘Find the board’ would have been more fitting. Cormack has gone missing. No wonder a lot of supporters are now hoping he disappears out of the club for good.”
Could Rangers benefit from Aberdeen struggles?
Aberdeen’s struggles this season have come as a surprise to most in Scotland, but they could be beneficial to the likes of Rangers and Celtic, as well as those towards the bottom of the division.
Boyd’s’ criticisms of the Dons’ hierarchy come off the back of several controversial decisions by the board, most recently with Neil Warnock brought in to steady the ship before leaving just weeks later, as it was claimed a new boss had been lined up.
As far as the Ibrox club are concerned, Aberdeen’s struggles towards the bottom of the table simply mean one less competitor towards the top – although they always remain capable of taking points away from them as they did when Michael Beale was sacked.
Rangers, meanwhile, have been heavily linked with a possible summer transfer deal to land Bojan Miovski from the Dons given the battle near the bottom they have found themselves in this season, with Clement’s side looking to take advantage.
