Rangers v Hearts: Steven Naismith reacts as Scottish Cup semi-final ticket details shared

Steven Naismith is pleased that there will be a 50-50 split between Rangers and Hearts fans for their Scottish Cup semi-final.

The Gers beat Hibernian 2-0 last weekend in a feisty affair to set up a showdown with Hearts -1-0 winners at Greenock Morton – at Hampden Park next month.

Aberdeen’s request for an equal split for their tie with Celtic was denied, but Hearts were successful with their own request.

Hearts confirmed the news in a statement on their official website on Thursday (14 March).

Speaking to reporters, manager Naismith is quoted by STV [14 March] as saying: “[It’s] the way it should be. It’s good.

“Obviously the League Club was a bit different, but it’s the semi final of probably the biggest cup competition in the country.

“It’s two massive clubs the way it should be, and it should be a good atmosphere for us to be involved in.”

Rangers v Hearts ticket details announced

Having a 50-50 ticket split at least ensures all the talk leading up to the game is not dominated by ticket allocations.

That was the case prior to the Viaplay Cup final showdown with Aberdeen, in which Rangers were allocated a larger share of tickets.

While Rangers could sell out the whole ground themselves, it is only fair that all teams are given the chance to sell their initial batch.

If a certain amount are not sold by a particular date, then the Scottish Football Association can always intervene.

For now, though, it is looking like being a split down the middle, which should make for a great atmosphere at Hampden Park.

That will be a brilliant occasion, just as the Viaplay Cup final victory over Aberdeen was three months ago.

Let’s hope for the same outcome this time around, even if there is likely to be fewer Gers fans in attendance.
