Rangers: Rob Page gets it wrong with Tom Lawrence decision as Wales news emerges
Rangers are flying high in various competitions under Philippe Clement, with the Belgian doing a superb job in the dugout.
But the manager’s momentum at Ibrox is now set to be disrupted, with international football returning this month.
One player that won’t have far to travel for the upcoming break is winger Rabbi Matondo, who has been included in the latest Wales squad for their Euro 2024 play-off semi-final clash with Finland at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Manager Rob Page has, however, opted not to include Matondo’s Ibrox teammate Tom Lawrence, despite a superb run of form from the 30-year-old.
As reported by the Daily Record (13 March), Lawrence has been a “key” player under Clement lately, having scored against the likes of Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership and Benfica in the Europa League.
Rangers ace Tom Lawrence will be disappointed by Wales snub
His time at Ibrox has been plagued by injury, but he is now back on the pitch and really impressing in blue.
Remarkably, Page has decided to select former Rangers man Aaron Ramsey, despite the midfielder’s recent knee injury.
Given his importance to the Wales squad, such a selection is understandable, but the Lawrence admission is a mistake from the man in the dugout.
The Ibrox ace is in fine form and is also versatile, and could have represented a great option for the nation later this month, either from the start or from the bench.

While the player himself will be disappointed by the snub, Clement will be relieved, with Lawrence now safe from a potential injury at international level, as is often the case with players when they represent their nations throughout the season.
In other Rangers news, a Gers debut is surely close for one youngster as a Borna Barisic competition claim is made.
