Rangers injury news: Doctor issues Zak Lovelace update

Rangers attacker Zak Lovelace is expected to be ruled out of first-team training until the end of April, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that due to the 18-year-old’s hamstring tear sustained in the first week of March, he is expected to be out for two months.

It is understood to potentially be a Grade 3 tear and if it’s not, the club could be conservative with how they handle the injury.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “This sounds like a Grade 3 out of 4 hamstring tear or a lower grade tear and they’re being conservative with his timetable due to previous injuries in the same area.

The timeline given is around 2 months so I would expect him to start with lower level strength and mobility work.

“Then he will progress gradually to higher intensity sport-specific work and finally to individual training and then team training by the end of April or the start of May.”

Lovelace may have to wait for Rangers first-team chances due to injury

The young striker just does not seem to catch a break with injuries as he’s already had a long-term setback this season.

In October, it was his hamstring again that kept him out for a number of months and he had recently returned to B Team action.

He made his debut back in 2022 but will now have to wait at least until May to play his next game for the club.
