Rangers injury news as Philippe Clement shares Abdallah Sima update ahead of Dundee clash

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has confirmed that Abdallah Sima has returned to training, but is yet to join up with the rest of the group as he continues his recovery.

The Senegalese forward hasn’t featured for the Light Blues since he scored in their 3-1 win over Kilmarnock on 2 January, having picked up an injury while away at the African Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.

While Clement was clearly pleased with the 22-year-old’s progress, he did admit that Dujon Sterling won’t be fit in time to face Dundee on Sunday (17 March) as he continues to make his way back from injury.

As quoted by The Rangers Review (15 March) he said: “Abda is in the same way that was diagnosed before. He feels really good, step by step. He is doing the rehab more, he is outside for the moment but not with the team yet.

“He is progressing really well and that is a good thing. Dujon is going to be a really doubtful one towards Sunday, we will see. We will not take a risk with him to have him out longer term.

“Ross McCausland also still struggled today but was on the bench because you need to think that this game was possibly for 120 minutes.”

Will Dujon Sterling and Abdallah Sima be fit for Rangers against Dundee?

Rangers supporters will be delighted to know that Sima’s recovery is heading in the right direction as the Light Blues have missed the 22-year-old presence on the left wing since while he has been stuck to the sidelines.

While Fabio Silva has been bright since he arrived at Ibrox, the Portuguese forward doesn’t have the goal-scoring threat of Sima. Considering Dessers’ occasional struggles in the final third, the Gers need goals from all over the pitch.

Philippe Clement has turned things around at Rangers

Hopefully, it won’t be too long until supporters will see the Brighton loanee back in action in Glasgow and he now has the international break to get back to his best ahead and push for a return to first-team training.

It is disappointing for Rangers that Sterling won’t be fit to feature against Dundee on Sunday. The Englishman has really found his feet under Clement at Ibrox and he would have given the Light Blues a different dimension.
