Rangers future in good hands as Kilmarnock ‘legend’ Jamie Fowler added to Ibrox academy staff

Rangers have been superb this season under Philippe Clement, with the manager completely turning fortunes around at Ibrox.

The Belgian, who has already lifted the League Cup in his first season in Glasgow, could also win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.

There will, of course, be disappointment after the Europa League round-of-16 exit to Portuguese giants Benfica, but the Ibrox faithful cannot have any complaints about the current situation in Glasgow.

And they can also rest in the knowledge that the club is in good hands for future campaigns, with Rangers putting a lot of effort into improving the academy in recent times.

Back in November, the Ibrox side confirmed the appointment of Zurab Amirian as Head of Academy Football from Belgian outfit OH Leuven.

And they have now added another member of staff to the academy, with The Scottish Sun reporting on Thursday (14 March) that Kilmarnock “legend” Jamie Fowler has been appointed as Head of Academy Scouting and Recruitment.

Rangers continue academy focus with Jamie Fowler appointment

Fowler has plenty of experience in Scottish football, and looks set to play a key role in helping develop young players over the coming years.

Clement has proven that he is more than willing to give youth a chance in the first team, with the likes of Ross McCausland and Leon King among the academy graduates to be handed minutes by the Belgian this season.

Their constant presence in the senior squad should inspire the current crop of academy players, with progression into the first team a real possibility if the hard work is put in on the training ground and on the pitch.
