Rangers: Trabzonspor to make official offer to Borna Barisic in ‘coming days’

Trabzonspor are set to make an official offer for Borna Barisic in the coming days to sign him on a free transfer from Rangers, according to Ajansspor.

Writing on their website (13 March), the Turkish news outlet report that the 31-year-old defender is a target for the Super Lig side as they look to bolster their left-back position for the 2024/25 season.

Negotiations have already begun between the club and player’s agent, and with Rangers expected to release Barisic at the end of the season when his contract expires Trabzonspor are set to make their move to convince him to move there.

Rangers planning early for the summer transfer window

The summer transfer window is set to be one of the most important in recent history at Rangers, with Philippe Clement looking to put his own stamp on the squad.

Michael Beale was the man who oversaw a major overhaul last summer but it didn’t work out too well for the club with a lot of money spent and a lot of issues remaining.

But Clement has a clear plan for his squad and with the likes of Oscar Cortes and Jefe already sealed for an arrival in the summer, it’s clear the club are already working hard on more deals.

Barisic’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and despite being first-choice at Ibrox for most of his time at the club, he has fallen behind Ridvan Yilmaz in the pecking order in recent times.

That should mean that his absence isn’t too sorely felt and with plenty of business expected, every little bit of saving will help. With Barisic gone, that’s a good chunk of saving on wages made that can be put elsewhere.
