
Rangers: Steve Clarke right to bring John Souttar in from the cold, Scotland start on the cards

Goalkeeper Jack Butland may make the England squad, but one player who has been given the nod by his international manager is John Souttar, with Steve Clarke selecting the centre-back in his latest Scotland squad.
As per Sky Sports (12 March), the defender returns after missing out from the group that was picked to face Norway and Georgia last November.
And it should prove to be a wise decision from the man in the dugout, with Souttar impressing at the Ibrox club this season.

From his three Europa League appearances, Souttar has an 84% pass per game accuracy, with a 96% accuracy regarding passes in his own half [Sofascore].
Moreover, the centre-back boasts a superb tally of 4.3 balls recovered per game, as well as 5.7 clearances per game.
Having missed out entirely on a place in the Scotland squad last time out, Souttar may just be handed a start by Clarke later this month, both given his form and the other players to have made the cut.
The Scots meet the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in friendly encounters ahead of their appearance at Euro 2024 this summer.

Clarke has also called upon the likes of Liam Cooper, Grant Hanley and Jack Hendry among others in central defence, with Souttar certainly in with a real chance to claim a starting role for the major tournament in Germany.
