Rangers: Gary Keown gushes over Dujon Sterling after what he’s seen from Ibrox ace

Rangers having a versatile player like Dujon Sterling in their squad is “worth its weight in gold” for Philippe Clement, according to Gary Keown.

Writing on page 95 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday’s print edition on 10 March, the journalist said the 24-year-old’s willingness to play “absolutely anywhere” has allowed the Gers’ injury-ravaged squad to keep their campaign rolling after he’s featured at right-back, in midfield and now on the right wing this season.

He added that the Englishman has probably “never been celebrated before” as he suggested he could do a job anywhere after registering his first professional goal in the Light Blues’ 2-2 draw with Benfica on Thursday (7 March).

Dujon Sterling deserves credit for Rangers performances

There is no doubt that Sterling deserves great credit for his performances at Rangers over the past couple of months after featuring in several positions.

Clement also has to come in for some praise for the way he’s got the best out of him after former Gers boss Michael Beale barely utilised him at the start of the season.

While he’s not a certainty to start, what he can offer the side in different positions is beginning to become more apparent and opening up tactical opportunities for the side.

The Englishman finally got his first professional goal against Benfica and Clement will be hoping that will spur him on to find the net on a more regular basis.

It will be interesting to see what role he plays over the next few months, but he is almost certain to play regular minutes after forcing his way into the reckoning at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, a journalist has mooted a potential Ibrox exit as the Gers look to kickstart their player-trading model.
