Rangers: FIFA restrictions named after ‘Shock’ Ibrox transfer news on Jose Cifuentes
Dan Plumley has insisted that “Shock” factors in the market such as the Russia and Ukraine war will continue to impact player movement after news from Rangers.
It comes after Jose Cifuentes revealed that two Russian clubs wanted to sign him before he moved to Cruzeiro on loan over the winter, with other moves rejected.
The football finance expert admitted that FIFA restrictions will cause barriers for potential moves such as that, with the impact expected to continue for some time throughout football.
“From what we’re led to believe, those restrictions and some of the things that were put in place by FIFA would still cause potential barriers to moves and that,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“I think all things considered, and for the player as well, you can get caught up in that, so it looks like this one was best for all parties for the player to go elsewhere.
“Again, those are the kinds of external shock factors at the minute that we are still dealing with in certain parts of the market, that are completely outside of the world of football but do have an impact and player movement is one of those things that it will continue to impact where the situation stays as it is.”

It appeared as though clubs were lining up to sign Cifuentes despite his move to Glasgow not working, and although it took its time, he looks to have made the right decision.
Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement already look to be going down a different road from the failures of Michael Beale, so that is something to look forward to in the summer.
