Rangers work with UEFA as ‘extremely aggressive’ Benfica worry emerges – ‘Serious concern’

Rangers are working alongside UEFA ahead of their Europa League Round of 16 clash with Benfica after some “extremely aggressive” previous searches at the Estádio da Luz.

Philippe Clement and his players will travel to Portugal to take on Benfica on Thursday night (7 March).

Ahead of the European showdown, Four Lads Had A Dream have taken to their official X account (7 March) to share some information for travelling supporters after “serious concerns” were raised regarding entry to the Estádio da Luz.

The post states, “Club (Rangers) are working with UEFA and FSE as there have been serious concerns raised with entry to the stadium previously with some extremely aggressive searches.

“UEFA have appointed 2 security delegates for this which is very uncommon so shows how seriously it’s being taken”.

Rangers supporters have been advised to arrive at the ground early after entry issues previous visiting clubs have had and have been encouraged to report any issues directly to the club.

Safety of supporters number one priority for Rangers ahead of Benfica showdown

While Clement and the players will be fully focused on the task at hand, it is positive to see those higher up at the club taking steps to avoid any trouble for their supporters.

Results on the pitch are of course important, but the safety of travelling supporters should always come first, especially when it comes to those supporters travelling around Europe.

The fact that Rangers are working with UEFA ahead of the showdown on Thursday evening demonstrates that they have some serious fears, and supporters shouldn’t take those fears lightly.

It is important that they adhere to the club’s advice so that they can attend the match hassle-free.

Once safely inside the ground, attention can turn toward the task at hand for the Gers as they look to advance to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and embark on another exciting European journey.

With Clement having already guided his side to the top of the Scottish Premiership, he has the opportunity to now make a name for himself with Rangers in Europe.

In other Rangers news, Clement must axe one star who is linked with an exit away from Ibrox against Benfica.
