Rangers injury news: Doctor issues Leon Balogun update
Rangers defender Leon Balogun is not at a 100 per cent and will be monitored regularly behind the scenes, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that while he’s returned to training with a mask and has been on the bench, there are still steps before he becomes fully fit.
He was out with a facial injury and given his return timeline, it indicates that the blow was not a severe one.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“How long he’ll need to wear the mask depends on the overall severity of the injury.
“Based on him returning in only one week – even with the mask – that would indicate lesser severity but it might be something where the club wants to be better safe than sorry.
“They’ll also have to see how comfortable he is and how quickly it heals.
“It’s fair to say he will be monitored regularly but he’s not going to be at a 100 per cent until he gets the minutes on the field of play and also until he gets his mask off.“
Balogun will be a good option at the back for Rangers
Philippe Clement will be delighted that the club signed Balogun in the summer as it gives him that extra option at the back.
Currently, Connor Goldson and John Souttar are the first choice options but there have defensive struggles over the past few weeks.

Should Balogun return to full fitness, he could go on a run of regular appearances for the first team.
