Simon Jordan slams Old Firm ‘clown colleges’ in ridiculous Rangers and Celtic verdict live on air
Rangers and Celtic have been slammed by Simon Jordan for their ridiculous decision to not allow opposition fans to attend Old Firm derbies in recent seasons.
Both fixtures between the Glasgow rivals this season have been played in front of home fans exclusively, while the last two meetings in the 2022-23 campaign also followed this rule after crowd trouble in earlier matches.
While Jordan has been quick to heap praise on the Gers board for their decision to appoint Philippe Clement this season, he has labelled both the Light Blues and Celtic “clown colleges” for harming the value of Old Firm clashes.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Tuesday (5 March, 11:46) he said: “I think they’ve made a very wise decision in bringing him in and what it does is it makes it a very interesting Scottish Premiership. You’ve got real rivalry, I’d like to see some of the other teams doing a bit better.
“If we can just get these two clown colleges of football clubs in Celtic and Rangers’ management to stop this ridiculousness of not allowing fans inside the stadium from the opposition, we might even have more value in the Old Firm derbies.”
Will away fans be able to attend Rangers and Celtic’s Old Firm showdown?
Pundits and supporters have repeatedly suggested this season that the Old Firm clashes between Celtic and Rangers this season could well define the title race given how close the two sides are in the Premiership’s standings.
As Jordan suggested, it does feel ridiculous that supporters won’t be able to attend these crucial fixtures because of a stalemate between the wt clubs as both Parkhead and Ibrox should be rocking in the final two meetings this season.

There has been little suggestion that either club is any closer to reaching an agreement to allow travelling fans back into the ground, however, and this issue even managed to spill over the women’s game in February.
Hopefully, the “clown colleges” of both clubs will follow Jordan’s advice and find a way to allow fans of both sides inside Ibrox sooner rather than later, but it feels unlikely that will be the case between now and the end of the season.
