Rangers: Oscar Cortes set for 2 months out after surgery on ‘Serious’ injury – Journalist
Rangers winger Oscar Cortes is set for two months on the sidelines after it was revealed he needs surgery on his injury, according to Pipe Sierra.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (5 March), the Colombian journalist reports that the loanee will require surgery and will undergo all rehab with Rangers despite being officially a Lens player still.
Philippe Clement revealed the 20-year-old had suffered a “serious injury” before the 2-1 defeat to Motherwell, and he now looks set to be absent until mid-May as a result.
“Óscar Cortés (20) suffered a muscle injury in his posterior and will undergo a surgical procedure that will leave him off the field for about 2 months,” he wrote.
“Although the Colombian still belongs to Lens, all process will be supervised by Rangers.”
Rangers suffer hammer injury blow again
It’s a huge blow for Rangers to suffer yet another serious injury in a season that has been littered with problems.
Danilo, Abdallah Sima, Kemar Roofe, Kieran Dowell and others have all suffered long-term injuries at different points of this campaign and Clement has had to adapt and deal with these issues.
The hope was that the injury may not be as bad as previously feared and that he could return to help the squad in their quest to beat Celtic to the Scottish title, with the player left out of the Europa League squad list due to homegrown issues.
The player performed admirably in the short time he was playing at Ibrox having joined on loan in January, shining with his exciting dribbling ability and speed as well as his creativity.
But now once again Rangers have been left short on numbers in attack and a big overhaul of the medical department needs to be looked at this summer because the issues surely can’t continue on.
