Rangers: Abdallah Sima desperate in new Philippe Clement reveal at Ibrox
Philippe Clement has revealed that Rangers winger Abdallah Sima is desperate to travel with the squad to Lisbon, despite his ongoing injury issue.
The boss explained that, despite still being weeks away from a return to the squad, Sima visited him in his office to ask that he travel with the squad ahead of their Europa League clash with Benfica.
Sima suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with Senegal, and the worst-case scenario was that he could be ruled out for the season, although that now looks unlikely.
As shared via the Daily Record [4 March], Clement told an audience in Glasgow: “This morning Abdallah Sima came into my office. He will be out still [for] several weeks – he’s working on his rehab – and he asked ‘Gaffer, can I come with the team to Lisbon’.”
Abdallah Sima shows his commitment to Rangers
Meeting with the boss to ask to travel with the squad for a crucial European clash is yet another example of why Sima has become so loved at Ibrox.
The desire to be a part of the team for such a big game, when plenty of other players would have swerved the trip to focus on their rehabilitation, will not go unnoticed amongst Gers supporters.
There have, understandably, been plenty of rumours about whether the Senegalese will remain at Ibrox beyond the end of his current loan deal, which will expire at the end of the season.
His form since arriving in the summer, despite that of his fellow new arrivals, has been excellent. With ten goals and two assists from 20 league appearances, it’s no wonder he has quickly become a fan favourite at Ibrox.

Alongside those impressive performances, his attitude and willingness to perform for the club has been exemplified by this latest revelation, and it’s little things like this that can make all the difference.
