Rangers: Offers could already be on the table for John Lundstram to complete Ibrox exit

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram could have offers on the table to quit Ibrox on a free transfer following the end of the season, according to Kenny Miller.

The English midfielder has been a key part of Philippe Clement’s side in Glasgow this season, impressing at the heart of midfield as one of the Belgian’s most consistent players both in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League.

However, the 30-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and despite rumours of a new contract, Lundstram is yet to extend his deal at Ibrox and BBC Scotland pundit Miller worries the high-earner could be set to move elsewhere.

Writing in the print edition of the Daily Record (3 March, page 69) he said: “Players want to feel valued. By all accounts, he’s one of the club’s top earners after joining from Sheffield United on a free.

“He can now speak to any club he wants and maybe there will be offers on the table. So Rangers have to make him feel wanted with any new contract.”

Will John Lundstram sign a new contract with Rangers or leave in the transfer window?

Lundstram’s impressive form this season has been excellent to see from a Rangers perspective, but the midfielder’s performances won’t have gone unnoticed by teams both in Scotland and beyond and there will be many sides keen to secure his signature.

The Light Blues cannot afford to let the Englishman leave for nothing come the end of the season. They have been guilty of letting key players leave for nothing in recent transfer windows with the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos.

Kenny Miller has been impressed by John Lundstram’s displays for Rangers.

While both players have struggled since leaving Ibrox, they were sellable assets and it cost a lot of money to replace them in the transfer window. The same will be true if they repeat that mistake by not securing Lundstram’s future.

Hopefully, contract talks will continue behind the scenes and supporters won’t have to wait too much longer for an official announcement, but Rangers have to act sooner rather than later before other teams swoop in with more lucrative offers.
