Rangers had another player injured following a "shocker" of a challenge from Dan Casey on Ross McCausland during the Gers' defeat to Motherwell, according to David Edgar.

The Light Blues missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as Stuart Kettlewell's side ran out 2-1 winners at Ibrox on Saturday (2 March) thanks to goals from Theo Blair and Casey.

However, Philippe Clement suffered a very early blow when McCausland was forced off with an injury midway through the first half following a heavy tackle from Casey that Edgar couldn't believe went "unpunished".

Writing on X on Saturday (2 March) he said: "Another of our players injured by a shocker which goes unpunished."

Have Rangers handed Celtic the Scottish Premiership title with Motherwell defeat?

Rangers had a golden opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership on Saturday, but through a mix of poor defending and a lack of quality going forward, Clement's side never looked as though they would secure all three points.

The two goals that the Gers conceded were far too soft as they were undone by one cross into the box and a complete mix-up at the back. John Souttar got himself in no man's land and Rangers fans expect more of a senior defender.

While fans and Clement will likely be frustrated with the referee's performance, as they were against Kilmarnock in the week, they have to look at their own side and recognise that they were nowhere near good enough at Ibrox on Saturday.

Rangers have to ensure that their defeat against Motherwell was nothing more than a momentary blip in their title charge as that sort of performance will never be enough to beat Celtic to the title or even the Scottish Cup this season.
