Rangers: ‘Unbelievable’ Jack Butland moment emerges on BBC v Kilmarnock

Lee McCulloch was starstruck by Jack Butland as Rangers claimed a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday 28 February.

After John Lundstram was penalised for a handball and Kilmarnock were awarded a penalty, the 30-year-old was left with no chance to keep a clean sheet as Danny Armstrong fired home from 12 yards.

And although Butland kept his team in the game against Killie, making several saves at 1-0 down, the pundit was more focused on the use of his feet as Rangers completed a 2-1 comeback.

Speaking live via BBC Radio Scotland on Wednesday (28 February, 7:51pm), McCulloch said: “Rangers have started the game going really direct, like they did against St Johnstone.

“Jack Butland delivers an unbelievable kick out to Ross McCausland, who beats [Stuart] Findley before [Fabio] Silva’s deflected effort goes just past the post.”

Without James Tavernier’s ridiculous free-kick effort, Butland probably could have made a case for claiming the Man of the Match award.

Although he only made two saves, as per FotMob, they were vital stops in between the sticks as Kilmarnock failed to double their lead and take the game away from the Gers.

This trend has continued throughout the season at Ibrox, with Butland potentially earning his first England call-up since 2019 and helping Rangers to the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Some have even called for him to be included in the Scottish Premiership Player of the Year awards, and his performance tonight will only support those arguments, with Rangers taking one step closer to the league title.
