Rangers: Derek Ferguson reacts as new windfall development emerges at Ibrox

Rangers will be getting a good deal if they land a £1.2million windfall from Malik Tillman’s permanent move from Bayern Munich to PSV Eindhoven, according to Derek Ferguson.

The Rangers Review reported on 21 February that Tillman looks set to join PSV on a permanent £12million deal from Bayern Munich in the summer.

In quotes, shared by the Daily Record [21 February], the former Gers loanee confessed he could make the permanent move, which would land the Bears a 10% windfall from any fee.

Ferguson – speaking exclusively to Ibrox News – insisted that the club has got the best they could have done out of the deal for Tilman, who he describes as a “talented” player.

“Aye, any money coming in is obviously good news, it’s been a good deal that one to be honest with you,” he said.

“He’s a good player that’s for sure, that’s clearly why a lot of Rangers fans wanted him at the club, he’s a talented boy and again I used to try and remind a few of the fans he’s a young boy, still learning the game, we tend to forget that.

“We’re a bit unforgiving at times up here, he’s only 20/21 so a lot of progress to come from him. It’s a good move for the lad, wee bit of money in, happy days.”

Will Rangers receive part of Malik Tillman transfer deal?

As a result of an agreement between Rangers and Bayern Munich which saw Tillman’s possible move to Ibrox fall through, the club will receive 10% of any future transfer fee, and if his move to PSV is completed as expected, that money will soon arrive.

Ferguson’s praise for the former Rangers man rings true, he was clearly a talented player and many fans were disappointed when he didn’t return following his loan spell, but the club have done as well as they could given the situation.

An additional £1.2million coming in will do no harm at all and could either go towards balancing the books behind the scenes at Ibrox or be added to any potential transfer kitty come the summer.

Speculation has been flying surrounding Tillman’s future at PSV and what that would mean for the Glasgow club, but it now appears we have moved one step closer to receiving that seven-figure boost.
