Rangers: David Edgar shares new title prediction after what he saw in win v Kilmarnock
David Edgar believes Rangers are going to win the league following their comeback victory over Kilmarnock on Wednesday (28 February).
The Heart and Hand Podcast host tweeted on Wednesday that the bottle the Gers have lacked previously is now there under Philippe Clement, with his side securing a 2-1 victory at Rugby Park.
He added that there is “absolutely no way” that the Light Blues wouldn’t have lost the game against Killie six months ago, paying tribute to keeper Jack Butland for making a fine save and captain James Tavernier for inspiring the comeback with his free-kick on 55 minutes bringing his side level.
“We’re going to win this league,” said Edgar. “The bottle we’ve lacked previously is there. No way, absolutely no way we don’t lose that game six months ago. Super Jack’s save and Tav’s free-kick look like pivotal moments in our season.”
Rangers are flying after Kilmarnock victory
The past couple of games against Hearts and Kilmarnock were believed to be the biggest tests Rangers would face in their bid to claim the SPL title outside of the Old Firm derby.
They came through both of those games with flying colours, but the points were secured under completely different circumstances.
The Gers smashed five past the Jambos before they got a real scare at Killie, with the hosts taking a lead in at half-time before Tavernier and Tom Lawrence turned things around.
That is the type of character that was seriously lacking from this group of players at the start of the season, but it clearly just needed the right man at the helm to bring that out of them.
Clement will be looking for his players to continue putting in performances and showing why they are a force to be reckoned with as they look to lift the SPL title ahead of Celtic this season.
