Nico Raskin summer exit mooted as Rangers look to kickstart player-trading model at Ibrox

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Rangers were to sell Nico Raskin in the summer transfer window, according to Derek Clark.

Speaking on the Rangers Review YouTube page on Wednesday (28 February), the journalist said the 23-year-old will have a price tag on his head, just like every other member of the Gers squad.

But he added that the Light Blues need to kickstart their player-trading model, with the club likely to receive some cash for the Belgian midfielder if they were to let him go when the transfer window reopens.

“He, along with all of the squad, will have price tags on their head,” said Clark. “Rangers need to kickstart that player-trading model. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he was offloaded in the summer. Rangers would get a bit of cash for him.”

Nico Raskin has struggled under Philippe Clement at Rangers

It has been a disappointing few months for Raskin after struggling for minutes since Clement arrived at the club back in October.

There were many people who believed the midfielder would thrive under his compatriot, but it just simply hasn’t been the case, with other players jumping ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Belgian did start the Gers manager’s first few games in charge at Ibrox, but since picking up an injury in late October, he has largely had to settle for a place on the bench.

There is still time for him to work his way back into the side across the final few months of this season, but he could be keen to move on if he fails to earn his starting spot back.

It’s a situation to keep an eye on ahead of the run-in as there is a good chance Clement will look to move a few players on at Ibrox once the summer comes around.
