James Tavernier wows Cammy Bell with ‘fantastic’ moment in Rangers v Kilmarnock
Cammy Bell was wowed by what James Tavernier did in the Rangers game against Kilmarnock on Wednesday (28 February).
Speaking on BBC Sportscene on Wednesday (26:34), the pundit said it was a “fantastic moment” from the Gers captain as he brought his side level with a free-kick on 55 minutes at Rugby Park.
He added that the 32-year-old’s goal came at a “big moment” for the Light Blues after Tom Lawrence found the back of the net just four minutes later to secure a 2-1 comeback victory for Philippe Clement’s side.
“You rely on your captain, he steps up,” said Bell. “For me, Will Dennis gets a decent hand on it, he’ll be disappointed with it. But you take nothing away from James Tavernier, it’s a fantastic moment at a big moment in the game.”
James Tavernier steps up again for Rangers
There have been countless times over the years when Tavernier has stepped up for Rangers and provided them with a moment of magic to claw them back into a game.
The Gers were well off the pace in the first half and needed some inspiration from somewhere, with the captain’s delightful free-kick proving too strong for Dennis.
It could have been a completely different night for Clement’s side had the right-back not stepped up, but his 20th goal of the campaign set them on their way to turning things around and claiming a massive three points in the SPL title race.

With Celtic demolishing Dundee 7-1 on Wednesday, the last thing the Light Blues needed was to slip up and allow them to retake top spot, but they kept their composure and got the job done at Rugby Park.
Clement will know just how important that result could be in such a tricky game as they took one step closer to lifting the title this season.
