Rangers: Kris Boyd names five Ibrox stars in Team of the Week, one Celtic player makes cut

Kris Boyd has named five Rangers players in his Scottish Premiership Team of the Week following the 5-0 rout of Hearts at Ibrox.

The Gers produced their best display of the campaign on Saturday (24 February) to keep their superb run of form under Philippe Clement going and remain two points clear of Celtic.

Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Cyriel Dessers all netted and were included in Boyd’s team for The Scottish Sun [26 February].

John Lundstram was also part of the team and was named star man of the weekend, with influential skipper James Tavernier the other to get recognition.

Rangers dominate Kris Boyd’s Team of the Week

January signings Diomande and Cortes continued their impressive starts to life at Ibrox by getting the ball rolling for Rangers against Hearts.

Dessers, who many would have been happy to see replaced ahead of the January window, also added a couple of goals to his growing tally.

Fabio Silva was also on the scoresheet – his third goal in eight games for the Gers – but he did not make the cut in Boyd’s team.

Celtic’s Adam Idah also got a mention after rescuing Celtic in their late 3-1 win over Motherwell on Sunday (25 February).

Some will accuse Boyd of bias, but after the masterclass that we witnessed against Hearts, all 11 players in this side could have been Gers representatives.

Whether it is the players he has brought in or simply getting more out of those already at the club, Clement can do no wrong right now.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton was labelled “pathetic” by Robbie Savage after being asked about the Gers’ title hopes.
