Rangers make new powerplay as SPFL paperwork emerges from Ibrox
Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers have made another “big play” with other Scottish Premiership clubs after concerns were raised about the SPFL.
Paperwork emerged in February after the Bears were one of six clubs to send a letter to the SPFL, raising concern over the independence of the Governance report.
The football finance expert admitted that friction has been caused between clubs and league organisers, with the same also happening in English football.
“We’ve gone from talking about the finances of football over the last 15 years and now those conversations are bleeding into governance angles,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“There are all kinds of things around regulatory frameworks and we’ve had Financial Fair Play, Profit and Sustainability in English football and often, those conversations come back to governance.
“We’ve certainly seen the same in Scottish football with the way the league operates and the friction that has caused between clubs, which is natural, but you’ve had an antagonist there in a really big club in Rangers that has been pushing the envelope.
“These power plays between clubs and league organisers are nothing new, but they are being ramped up at the moment, especially in English football and the English football regulator and there’s been talk about what that may mean for Scotland in the future.
“There are conversations that will be taking place around the future of Scottish football, we know the broadcasting deals have been undersold and there are conversations where the governance angle has to come into it.
“It’s a big play by Rangers, but we’re used to them making big plays, so I guess it’s no surprise to see it.”

SPFL powerplay from Rangers
This is a long-standing battle between Rangers and those supposedly in charge.
The SPFL and the SFA have been questioned consistently by the Bears, and rightly so, just look at the Willie Collum drama from earlier in the season.
Hopefully, change can be made and Scottish football can bring back some pride.
