Rangers: Brendan Rodgers speaking in riddles after Ibrox demolition v Hearts
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has been left speaking in riddles following Rangers and Philippe Clement’s demolition of Hearts, according to Keith Jackson.
The Light Blues maintained their two-point lead over the Hoops with an excellent 5-0 thumping of Steven Naismith’s side at Ibrox on Saturday (24 February), with Celtic picking up three points with a regulation win over Motherwell.
While Daily Record journalist Jackson has insisted that a two-point lead means very little at this stage of the season, he admits that Rangers’ recent impressive form has left Rodgers slightly out of sorts.
Writing for the Daily Record on Monday (26 February) he said: “Rangers, on the other hand, smashed five goals past Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon to cement their place at the top of the table and the emphatic nature of this routing feeds into the narrative that momentum has switched entirely from one side of Glasgow to the other.
“That’s one of the reasons why Rodgers was talking in riddles about stories having been written already but, then again, Celtic’s manager may have a happy ending up his sleeve.
“He is correct in his assessment that a two-point lead counts for very little when there are still another 33 to be played for.”
Will Rangers beat Celtic to the title this season?
Rangers will know that they haven’t won anything yet this season, but Clement’s side are in an excellent position to lift the Premiership title this season, especially when compared to their position in the early stages of the campaign.
The momentum is at Ibrox currently and that was displayed in Saturday’s win over Hearts where the Gers demolished Naismith’s inform side with an attacking display that showed they were full of confidence and belief under Clement.

Rodgers hasn’t often had to face this sort of pressure during either of his spells at Parkhead and it is clear that he isn’t quite sure how to deal with the Light Blues currently, hence the riddles.
However, the Gers have shown no signs of slowing down under the Belgian and talk is still circling over a potential quadruple this season. Whether or not Rangers can pull that off remains to be seen, but they’re in the driving seat.
