Rangers: Kris Boyd makes 8-0 admission on Sky Sports after what happened v Hearts at Ibrox

Rangers could quite easily have defeated Hearts 7-0 or 8-0, according to Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd.

The Gers defeated the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox on Saturday (24 February) to extend their lead at the top of the table.

January signings Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva all scored, along with a brace from Cyriel Dessers.

“Hearts are the best of a bad bunch below them at this moment in time,” said Boyd, as per Sky Sports Scotland. “It was 5-0, but it could quite easily have been seven or eight the way they went about it.”

Rangers thrash Hearts to pile pressure on Celtic

Celtic had been leading the way in the Scottish Premiership for the majority of the season, only to see their bitter city rivals overtake them earlier this month.

The performances from Brendan Rodgers’s side have been below par, with the displays of Philippe Clement’s side at the other end of the spectrum.

Hearts travelled to Ibrox full of confidence thanks to a fine run of form, but their hopes of picking up points on the road were quickly dashed.

It was a five-star display from the home side, who were cheered on by the Ibrox faithful from the very first whistle.

The hard work doesn’t stop now, however, with the Gers needing to continue their momentum in the league, but also in the Europa League and the Scottish Cup.

Philippe Clement’s new-look Rangers squad is already beginning to take shape this summer.

Remarkably, a domestic treble is now on the cards in Clement’s first season in charge, along with the potential of success in Europe.
