Rangers: Chris Sutton slams ‘bitterly disappointing’ Celtic after 5-0 win v Hearts at Ibrox

Rangers defeating Hearts with the help of three January signings will frustrate Celtic fans, according to Chris Sutton.

Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva all scored as the Gers smashed the Jambos 5-0 on Saturday (25 February).

The trio all joined the Ibrox club on loan in the winter transfer window, with Sutton adding that no such transfer success has taken place at Celtic Park.

“If you look at the recruitment in the summer and the nine players that Celtic signed, it was jumbled, muddled thinking,” said Sutton, as per Sky Sports Scotland. “Celtic failed to prepare for the Champions League and ended up finishing bottom, which was bitterly disappointing.

“Celtic supporters look at it like this: they had a chance in the summer to absolutely bury Rangers, to win the league and get the Champions League riches – but that hasn’t happened.

“When you see three of Rangers’ January signings scoring yesterday that will only add to the frustration of the Celtic support.”

New Rangers trio help in Ibrox rout v Hearts

Rangers have been very busy in recent transfer windows, but not all of their moves have worked out, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Regarding the former, however, things have gone very well lately, with Diomande, Cortes and Silva all hitting the ground running at Ibrox.

It is always a risk to bring any player to Glasgow knowing that they will be quickly judged, both at Ibrox and Celtic Park.

But there can be no complaints about the new trio for Philippe Clement, with the manager deserving plenty of praise for bringing them in, even though they are on loan for the time being.

Rangers supporters would no doubt love to see all three players be snapped up permanently as soon as possible, but for now matters on the pitch are more important.

Transfers can certainly wait until the summer, with Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Europa League duties taking precedence.
