Rangers: BBC Sport journalist blown away by ‘flawless’ John Lundstram in 5-0 win v Hearts
Rangers midfielder John Lundstram produced a “flawless” Player of the Match display against Hearts.
That is according to BBC Sport journalist Nick McPheat, with the Gers defeating the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox on Saturday (24 February).
Recent recruits Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva scored, with summer signing Cyriel Dessers netting a double.
Naming Lundstram as the Player of the Match, McPheat wrote for BBC Sport (24 February): “Not on the scoresheet, but the Rangers midfielder, who continues to shine under Clement, dictated play from start to finish and capped off another flawless display with a brilliant assist.”
John Lundstram shines as Rangers thrash Hearts at Ibrox
Lundstram continues to impress under Philippe Clement, with the midfielder central to the club’s recent success. He has been a standout in midfield, with other players being chopped and changed alongside him amid dips in form.
It was another assured display from the former Premier League man at Ibrox, with Lundstram dictating the play as he kept things ticking over, as well as helping stop any breaks from the visitors.
But it is the attackers who will steal much of the headlines, in particular the three January transfer window recruits.
Their goals and displays in general prove that Rangers recruited very well in the most recent window, which was Clement’s first opportunity to bring players to the club.
It has simply boosted the manager’s status at Ibrox further, with the trio set to be key players in the coming months.

The huge win, in every sense of the word, has extended the club’s lead at the top of the table over fierce rivals Celtic, an unthinkable situation not too long ago.
In other Rangers news, one Gers sensation is set to force Clement’s hand after a behind-the-scenes Ibrox development.
