Rangers: Former Ibrox talent Josh McPake makes decision over Stirling Albion transfer
Former Rangers player Josh McPake has officially joined Stirling Albion following his Ibrox release last summer.
The Gers confirmed on 1 September that academy graduate McPake’s contract had been terminated by mutual consent.
After more than five months without a club, the 22-year-old has now signed for Scottish League One side Stirling.
The news was confirmed by Albion via their official Twitter page on Friday (23 February).
Rangers release not the end for Josh McPake
Plenty was expected of McPake at Ibrox, but it just did not work out that way.
The youngster was given his senior bow in July 2019 and caught the eye in a friendly with St Joseph’s.
However, McPake made just one competitive appearance – coming in the Europa League – and it made sense for him to leave last year.
McPake has experience of playing for Dundee, Morton, Tranmere Rovers, Morecombe and Queen’s Park, while also representing Scotland up to Under-19s level.
Having been on trial at Hamilton, the Coatbridge youngster has now found a club in Stirling where he can get his career back on track.
McPake may not have been able to showcase his talents at Rangers, but there is no reason why he cannot now work his way back up the divisions by getting his head down and working hard.
In other Rangers news, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was wide of the mark with comments made regarding the title race.
