Jose Cifuentes has finally been given the all-clear to make his debut for Cruzeiro following his loan move from Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported on page 50 of its print edition on Friday (23 February) that the Ecuadorian international has been given the green light to face fellow Brazilian side Pouso Allegre on Sunday (25 February) after his work permit issue has been resolved.

The 24-year-old midfielder has made the loan switch to the South American club after enduring a difficult first few months for the Gers at Ibrox.

Jose Cifuentes likely to never play for Rangers again

It's extremely likely that Cifuentes won't play for Rangers again after he failed to make an impression since joining from LAFC last summer.

The Gers pushed the boat out to sign the midfielder after stumping up a reported £1.2million to secure his services just months before his contract with the MLS side was set to expire.

But after Philippe Clement came through the door in October at Ibrox, he never really managed to nail down a regular place in the team.

That led to his temporary move to Cruzeiro, where he'll now be looking to get back to his best after his work permit issues have been resolved.

The Light Blues will probably be hoping he has a successful loan spell with the Brazilian side in order for him to secure a permanent exit away from Ibrox further down the line.
