Rangers: £67m Celtic development forces John Bennett to take decisive action

Rangers chairman John Bennett will be on edge after Celtic made an announcement of their impressive financial figures.

The Hoops announced on 23 February, as reported by Daily Record that they have a whopping £67million in the bank.

They have made a mammoth profit of £32million before tax in their interim PLC report for the six months to December 2023.

Rangers long-term concerns raised after Celtic financial news

The significant increase in profit and revenue coupled with ambitious development plans at Celtic Park would undoubtedly raise concerns about Gers’ ability to compete at the highest level in Scottish football.

To counter Celtic’s advancements and reclaim the top spot in Scottish football, Bennett might consider several strategic changes.

He could focus on bolstering the club’s financial position by exploring new revenue streams, such as sponsorships, merchandising or commercial partnerships, to increase the club’s funding for player acquisitions and facility upgrades.

Additionally, Bennett should prioritise strengthening Rangers’ scouting network to identify and secure top talent, both domestically and internationally, ensuring a steady influx of quality players to bolster the squad.

Recruitment must be priority for Rangers

The recruitment in the past few seasons has been haphazard, to say the least, and no serious club operates that way,

Furthermore, investing in the club’s youth academy and development programs could be crucial in nurturing homegrown talent and reducing reliance on expensive transfers.

Strategically, Bennett must also look to enhance Rangers’ tactical approach and managerial stability, ensuring continuity and long-term success on the pitch.
