Done Deal: Rangers finalise terms to sign new Ross McCausland as Arian Allen heads to Ibrox

Rangers were very busy in the January transfer window, with Philippe Clement bolstering his squad ahead of a key second half of the season.

Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande all made the switch to Ibrox, with all three arriving on loan.

And it seems that the club’s academy is in line with the first team, with forward Arian Allen having just signed from Everton [official Rangers website, 19 February].

The club explained that the 16-year-old, who is capable of playing across the frontline, has joined Steven Smith’s Under-18s

And he is set to be at Ibrox for the long run, with Glasgow World reporting on Tuesday (20 February) that Allen has signed a four-year contract following his move from Merseyside.

And if recent history is anything to go by, the youngster should have a bright future in the first time, much like his fellow forward Ross McCausland.

In a short space of time, the latter has become a regular under Clement, with the academy graduate also impressing on the international stage with Northern Ireland.

The attacker is also expected to be in Glasgow for the long term, having penned a new deal until the summer of 2027 in November.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement shouldn’t be blamed for his players’ poor pre-season performances

The 20-year-old has impressed during his brief stint in senior football, with Rangers hoping that Allen can follow the same pathway from academy to first team as quickly as possible.

But there will be no rush with the 16-year-old, with his minutes needing to be managed carefully at this important stage of his career.

In other Rangers news, a “shock” development on goalkeeper Jack Butland is now on the cards at Ibrox.
