Rangers injury news: Doctor issues update on Kieran Dowell
Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell is likely to be eased back into training in early March, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the 26-year-old is likely to be ruled out with a sports hernia injury – a common phenomenon among footballers.
He has been out of action since Gers picked up a 3-1 victory against Kilmarnock on 2 January.
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Not many specifics were given by the club but based on the timeline and surgery, my guess is he’s dealing with osteitis pubis known as a sports hernia which is quite common in footballers.
“The best way to re-integrate is gradually and methodically with constant assessment.
“He will not be returning to training in February and will be eased back in early next month.
“He could play a few bounce matches before he’s ready for 90 minutes.“
Dowell will be welcome boost for Rangers once fit
It was reported in February that he had got his foot stuck in a bad pitch and that led to him suffering an injury.
He will be eased back in and it remains to be seen how Philippe Clement looks to bring the best out of him.

The 26-year-old is capable of playing further up the pitch but has been deployed in a deeper midfield position this season.
In other Rangers news, a former Liverpool and Everton midfielder has revealed an offer to secure a permanent move to Ibrox.
