Glen Kamara shares what unnamed ex-Rangers teammate told him about title race

Glen Kamara has revealed what he said in a discussion with one of his former Rangers teammates recently about the SPL title race.

Speaking to the Daily Record on Wednesday (21 February), the ex-Gers midfielder said the pair were hoping the club can win the title in front of the fans after that was something they weren’t able to do when they lifted the trophy back in 2021.

The Finnish international added that it will be “tough” and the race will come down to the head-to-head games against Celtic, but the 28-year-old admitted that he still keeps in contact with some of his former teammates at Ibrox.

“It would be great for Rangers to win the title in front of the fans,” said Kamara. “When we won, we couldn’t celebrate with the fans, but they supported us in their numbers throughout the season.

“I was speaking to one of my old teammates the other day, and we were both hoping that Rangers can do it in front of the fans.

“It’ll be a tough one, it’ll come down to the head-to-head games with Celtic, and it’ll be tight. I still keep in contact and check up with them – there’s a good few boys I still talk to.”

Glen Kamara exit was another Michael Beale error at Rangers

It’s pretty clear that Kamara is still very much invested in what Rangers are doing despite leaving the club for Leeds United last summer.

The midfielder’s exit was one of the many errors that Michael Beale made during his time at Ibrox as he could have proven to be a valuable asset under Philippe Clement.

But that ship has sailed now and it’s down to the current crop of Gers players to claim the title this season, just like the Finn did with some of his former teammates three years ago.

The Light Blues are very much in pole position at this moment in time after leapfrogging Celtic into top spot following the 3-0 victory over St Johnstone.

But there could still be plenty of twists and turns over the next few months, with the Old Firm clash against the Hoops on 7 April likely to play a huge role in where the title ends up this season.
