Rangers: Pundit shares ‘pressure’ verdict ahead of Ibrox clash v Hearts, ‘cracking’ claim made
Rangers versus Hearts is going to be a “cracking clash,” with all the pressure on the former going into the match.
That is according to ex-Hearts player Ryan Stevenson, who shared the verdict ahead of the clash at Ibrox on Saturday (24 February).
The Jambos are currently third in the Scottish Premiership table, with the Gers in first place after their win against St Johnstone.
“Listen, all the pressure is on Rangers,” Stevenson wrote for the Daily Record. “They’re the ones being chased and they know they cannot slip up. It’s teed up to be a cracking clash.
“Hearts will be champing at the bit to get to Govan. They were only minutes away from winning the last time they were there and that’s when form was ropey.
“If they can get a result on Saturday – to add to their win at Parkhead in December – then that would be the icing on the cake.”
Rangers to extend lead at top against Hearts?
The Gers have had to be patient in their pursuit of fierce rivals Celtic, but top spot has finally been achieved.
It has been a long time coming, having not looked likely at all just a few months ago when Michael Beale was in the Ibrox dugout.
But Philippe Clement has come in and completely turned things around, with his club now two points clear of Celtic after defeating St Johnstone 3-0 on Sunday (18 February).
The Bhoys certainly helped them out with their 1-1 draw at home to Kilmarnock a day earlier, blowing the title race wide open.
Rangers now have a superb chance to extend their lead at the top of the table, but that will not be an easy task when Hearts travel to Ibrox.
The home tie certainly favours the Glasgow side, but the Edinburgh outfit are on a superb run under Steven Naismith.

The manager has very fond memories of Ibrox, but he will be putting his admiration for the Gers aside when it comes to kick-off.
In other Rangers news, Hugh Keevins has been wowed by an “invaluable” Gers man after an “unfathomable” turn of events at Ibrox.
