Rangers: Pundit issues title admission as Celtic drop points v Kilmarnock

Barry Ferguson admits that he was wrong about Celtic and Rangers winning every game until April 7.

Both sides went into the weekend level on points, but while Gers comfortably beat St Johnstone away from home, the Hoops dropped points against Kilmarnock.

With that twist, Gers took the lead in the SPFL title race for the first team this season.

Speaking to Go Radio’s Football Show, Ferguson said, as quoted by the Daily Record: “You don’t want to get carried away and get a slap in the face.

“Enjoy it. Enjoy it on the way back but you need to get the blinkers on. Hearts will come and Steven Naismith will fancy his chances coming to Ibrox. They need to keep their feet on the ground.

“I said last week both Rangers and Celtic would win all their games up to April 7. How wrong was I? Celtic drop a couple of points, but then Rangers have a tricky place to go – Kilmarnock.

“That is going to be a tough one for Rangers but they seem like they are in a different place just now. The most important thing is they don’t get carried away. They have got there but the hard work is still to be done.”

Rangers cannot let Celtic back in the driver’s seat now

With Rangers now sitting at the top of the Premiership with a two-point lead, there’s a palpable sense of optimism among fans.

However, Ferguson’s cautionary words remind everyone that complacency could prove costly and they’ll know that the league is not won in February and there are still three months to go.

Despite recent successes, including a crucial win against St Johnstone, the title race is far from over.

Philippe Clement’s leadership has undoubtedly rejuvenated the team, but they must remain focused and resilient in the face of upcoming challenges.

Tough fixtures against Hearts and Kilmarnock loom on the horizon and any slip-ups could jeopardise their lead and give Celtic a chance to return to the summit.

The unpredictable nature of the title race means that nothing can be taken for granted.

Each game is a test of character and determination and Rangers must approach them with the same level of intensity and commitment that has brought them to the top.

In other Rangers news, a recent £10m claim has emerged directly having long-term consequences Gers and the supporters will certainly be fuming with it.
