Rangers transfer verdict as Celtic leave millions burning hole in Parkhead bank
Rangers may have decided the SPFL title race already with their January signings while Celtic left tens of millions burning a hole in the bank at Parkhead, according to Stephen McGowan.
The Scottish Daily Mail journalist shared via the newspaper’s print edition [19 February, page 70] that the Ibrox club showed creativity in signing the likes of Mohamed Diomande while operating with limited resources.
Diomande scored his first Rangers goal with a rocket from 20 yards in the 3-0 victory against St Johnstone and is already beginning to show the benefits of his arrival at Ibrox.
Writing for the Scottish Daily Mail, McGowan shared: “January signings show every sign of settling the fate of the title. In an act of corporate negligence, Celtic left tens of millions burning a hole in the bank in the winter window.
“Operating with limited resources, Rangers showed creativity to land the likes of Mohamed Diomande on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer.”
Rangers’ January transfer window could make the difference?
The arrival of Diomande has already started to make a difference at Ibrox, particularly after his opening goal against St Johnstone which kickstarted a 3-0 win, and Rangers’ other January signings have also had a fast start.
Fabio Silva, who joined on loan from Wolves, has scored twice in eight appearances since arriving, with only three of those appearances coming from the start as he averages just 48 minutes per game. [Sofascore]
Both new arrivals have impressed since arriving at Ibrox, and bringing Nils Koppen to the club in the director of football position at the Glasgow club is starting to look like a masterstroke from the board.

With Celtic failing to strengthen their squad in January, Rangers have made the most of the limited resources they had, and look like picking up and pushing on in the second half of the season, while Brendan Rodgers’ side continues to falter and make sloppy errors.
