Gary Lineker has Alan Shearer in stitches as Rangers and Celtic title prediction made
Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have all offered their thoughts – of sorts – on the Scottish Premiership title battle between Rangers and Celtic.
Rangers moved top of the division for the first time this season with Sunday’s (18 February) 3-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
The title race looks set to go down to the wire, and Richards was reluctant to give too much away when asked who he believes will prevail.
“No, no, no. I don’t want to get abused on social media,” he said on The Rest is Football podcast [19 February, 41m 54s].
Shearer added: “He’s setting us up there, Micah. Who do you want to win it, Gary?”
As the other two chuckled away in the background, Lineker said: “I want the best team to win.”
Rangers overtake Celtic in Scottish Premiership title race
Sitting on the fence is one thing, but this takes it to another level. The Rangers and Celtic divide in Glasgow is well known, but that is not to say neutrals cannot give their honest verdict.
If Lineker thinks Celtic will recover and come out on top, for example, then so be it. If Richards thinks the Gers will capitulate, that is also fair enough.
Had they been predicting the outcome of the English Premier League, you can be certain that all three would give their opinions without holding back.

What we do know, however, is that this title race is drawing in viewers from much further afield than just Scotland. Rangers have battled back valiantly to take control at the top.
You know for certain that there will be more twists and turns between now and the end of the campaign, but this is why we love football so much.
Let’s just enjoy the ride between now and the end of the campaign and retain confidence in Philippe Clement’s men getting the job done as they so often do.
In other Rangers news, Keith Jackson has raised something “intolerable” regarding Celtic fans following the Gers’ win over St Johnstone.
