Rangers v St Johnstone: BBC pundit reacts as Celtic drop points v Kilmarnock
Kenny Miller fancies Rangers to capitalise on Celtic dropping points v Kilmarnock when they take on St Johnstone on 18 February.
A win for Gers will see them returning to top spot as the Hoops are just one point ahead of them in the SPFL table.
At full-time both teams will have played the same number of games as well so there will be no games in hand for either side.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Miller, a BBC pundit said: “The opportunity that presents today, it’s a huge chance. No big goal difference, no threes and fours. It’s about coming and getting the job done. If you do that today, you’ll be sent back to the top of the league. You have to fancy them to go and get the job done and take advantage that Celtic dropped points yesterday.”
Rangers go into this one as favourites
It’s not a foregone conclusion but the Gers players, Cyriel Dessers in particular, are in exceptional form in recent games.
Complacency is still something they have to be careful about as despite being favoured, they can suffer costly mistakes, especially when vying for the top spot in the league.
Miller’s emphasis on “getting the job done” highlights the importance of seizing the opportunity presented by Celtic’s dropped points.
Outcomes can be unpredictable, and assuming victory without effort can backfire but that’s something Philippe Clement will be drilling into his players.
For once this season, it seems like Rangers have the upper hand in the title race and at this stage, it’s hard to bet against them winning the league.
Given the start they had to their season, it seemed hard to fathom but things have turned around and Clement has a huge role to play in that.
In other Rangers news, a recent £10m claim has emerged directly having long-term consequences Gers and the supporters will certainly be fuming with it.
