Rangers: Philippe Clement speaks out on future of Borna Barisic amid latest Ibrox exit talk

Philippe Clement insists no decision has been made by Borna Barisic regarding his future at Rangers.

The Croatia international is due to be out of contract at Ibrox in the summer and is attracting interest from multiple clubs abroad.

Barisic is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign clubs, but Clement does not believe that has yet happened.

“I don’t know about any decision,” he is quoted as saying by the Daily Record [17 February]. “Borna is training very well and is hungry to play.

“He has just come back from injury. So he will make his next steps in the next few weeks. No decision has been made.”

Where could Rangers defender Borna Barisic end up?

Roma, Dinamo Zagreb and teams from LaLiga have each been linked, meaning Barisic is unlikely to be short of suitors in the summer window.

It looked at one point as though the Gers would cash in on the full-back in January, but doubts over Ridvan Yilmaz’s future did not help.

With a move for Jefte potentially back on the cards for the end of the season, Rangers are clearly already working on signing a replacement.

Philippe Clement’s new-look Rangers squad is already beginning to take shape this summer.

Whether or not Ridvan also stays at Ibrox is unclear, but the club appear to have a plan in place regardless.

Barisic is now starting to get some more minutes under his belt, and the competition with Ridvan will only help Rangers.

Should these be his final few months in Glasgow, Rangers should ensure they get every last drop out of Barisic before he does officially depart.
