Rangers: Chris Sutton blown away as Sky Sports share John Souttar footage

Chris Sutton has waxed lyrical over John Souttar as footage emerged of him ahead of the Rangers v St Johnstone clash on Sunday, 18 February.

Sky Sports shared a clip of the pundits discussing whether or not the centre-back deserves to be in the Scotland squad.

Sutton, despite his Celtic allegiances, agreed that Souttar has ironed out the mistakes from his game and deserves to be in the side.

He said as footage emerged of the defender in training: “I think the thing that always went against John Souttar was that people felt he had a mistake in him. And I think he’s ironed that out due to what the guys have said.”

Souttar has improved since joining Rangers

Souttar’s inclusion in the Scotland squad is warranted due to his significant improvement since joining Rangers.

Under the guidance of Philippe Clement and alongside the experienced Connor Goldson, Souttar has developed into a more reliable and consistent player.

Previously criticised for potential errors, Souttar has demonstrated resilience by ironing out those weaknesses, as acknowledged by Sutton as well.

The competitive environment at Ibrox, with players like Leon Balogun and Ben Davies vying for defensive positions, has spurred the Scotland international to elevate his game to maintain his spot.

This competition has pushed him to refine his skills and focus on delivering consistent performances.

Furthermore, Souttar’s adaptation to Rangers’ style of play and his partnership with Goldson have enhanced his defensive capabilities.

His improved form and reliability make him a valuable asset for both club and country.

With Clement’s guidance and the competitive atmosphere at Rangers, Souttar has not only silenced his critics but also proven himself deserving of a place in the Scotland squad.

In other Rangers news, a recent £10m claim has emerged directly having long-term consequences Gers and the supporters will certainly be fuming with it.
