Celtic fans aim new dig at Rangers as images emerge amid ongoing Old Firm controversy
Celtic fans aimed a new dig at Rangers after the club cancelled all away tickets for the women’s Old Firm clash, insisting football is nothing without fans, as per the Daily Record.
The newspaper shared images via its website on 18 February of Celtic fans in attendance at the game who wore t-shirts reading: “Football without fans is nothing” in protest of the decision made by the Ibrox club.
The Gers drew the game 1-1, meaning they maintained their lead at the top of the table, but the club cited intelligence received that “risk” supporters had purchased tickets as the reason to ban any away fans.
Will away fans return to games between Rangers and Celtic?
The decision to ban away supporters from the women’s Old Firm game added further fuel to the fire amid the ongoing debate about away supporters’ attendance at the derby games.
These calls have led to widespread criticism, and the latest fans’ protest at the women’s game shows just how frustrating the situation has become, with both clubs to blame for their decisions.
Most recently, it was reported that an allocation of just 750 fans could be offered for the upcoming men’s clash, but while this represents progress being made, which can be looked upon as a positive and a step forward in the talks, it is still a pathetic offer which pales in comparison to the days of 8,000-fan away ends.

This debate has raged on for far too long and it’s the fans who have suffered as a result. Not having away fans at Parkhead or Ibrox has, of course, resulted in lesser atmospheres in a game which always thrived off the passion from the stands which is now lacking.
The sooner the clubs and the SPFL can get their heads together and come to an agreement the better, with their petty squabble ruining what should be the showpiece of Scottish football. Instead, it’s been allowed to go on for far too long.
