Rangers might need to shatter post-2012 Ibrox record to sign Luca Langoni amid £11.9m news
Rangers have certainly invested heavily in attacking talent in recent transfer windows, both under Philippe Clement and Michael Beale.
In a very busy summer transfer window, the latter brought Sam Lammers, Danilo, Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima to Ibrox.
Not all of those signatures have worked out, with Sammers having already left on loan, forcing Clement into new additions in January.
The Belgian manager turned to Fabio Silva, Mohammed Diomande and Oscar Cortes, with all three arriving on loan deals.
But they could still look to strengthen in this area in the next transfer window, with Boca Juniors winger Luca Langoni a potential option.
As per Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry (16 January), the Gers approached the 22-year-old last summer, but eventually opted for other players.
If they do want to reignite that interest this summer, it will take quite an effort, with Boca Noticias reporting on Thursday (15 February) that a new contract for Langoni means he now has a release clause of $15million (£11.9million).
It would be the most expensive signing at Ibrox since the club went into administration in 2012, with the Gers having spent £12million on Tore Andre Flo back in 2000 [The Athletic, 1 December 2020].

There would undoubtedly be immense pressures on the young shoulders of Langoni should he make a big-money move to Scotland in the near future.
Any move for the winger would surely depend on what Clement has planned for his current crop of attackers, as well as the money available at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, one Gers ace is now undroppable despite his 20% struggles in the win against Ross County, which is bad news for one of Beale’s January signings.
