BBC Sport pundit gushes over ‘fabulous’ John Lundstram moment in Rangers win v Ross County

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram produced a “fabulous” pass for Rabbi Matondo in the first half of the clash with Ross County.

That is according to BBC pundit Steven Thompson, who was blown away by the first-half through ball from the Ibrox ace.

Matondo couldn’t find a finish, but it didn’t impact the result in the end, with the Gers winning 3-1 at Ibrox on Wednesday (14 February).

“It’s a fabulous pass from John Lundstram, timed to perfection and the run from Matondo equally so,” Thompson said on BBC Sportsound (8.01pm, 14 February). “He is at a slight angle, opens up his right foot, he’s got the far corner to aim into and just pulls it too far wide.”

Lundstram key for Rangers

Lundstram has been superb under Philippe Clement, with the midfielder producing another top display under the lights against Ross County.

His energy, tackling and, in this case, vision, are crucial for Rangers, who should really be considering a new deal for the former Premier League man.

Lundstram’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with the Ibrox club certainly not able to afford to lose him for free, as was the case with the likes of talented pair Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos last time out.

The star duo exited the club without much fanfare despite their superb spells in Glasgow, with Clement surely keen to avoid a similar situation with Lundstram.

However, it may not be at the top of his list of priorities at this moment in time, with a Scottish Premiership title race perhaps taking most, if not all of the manager’s energy.
