Rangers set for top spot as Philippe Clement recalls Ibrox star Todd Cantwell v Ross County

Rangers now have the chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership table when they take on Ross County at Ibrox.

Philippe Clement’s side can overtake fierce rivals Celtic at the top of the standings if they win the match on Wednesday (14 February) by three or more goals.

The club’s game in hand has been a long time coming, with the Ibrox faithful counting down the days to this meeting with the Staggies.

Rangers star Cantwell can take club top

It has now arrived, with Rangers just three points behind the Bhoys heading into their upcoming clash under the lights at Ibrox, with the latter’s goal difference just two better than the former’s.

Clement had plenty of big decisions to make for this one, having been afforded the luxury of resting several key players for the Scottish Cup clash with Ayr United on Saturday (10 February).

In their absence, the likes of recent recruits Mohammed Diomande and Oscar Cortes were handed starts, with the latter particularly impressing.

But now those key men are back in the starting XI, with Ibrox star Todd Cantwell returning to the scene having appeared as a 61st-minute substitute in the 2-0 win against Ayr.

His presence should strike fear into Celtic fans, with the former Premier League ace really enjoying himself in Glasgow right now.

The attacker should be more than up for the task, with Cantwell surely eager to add to his tallies of six goals and four assists this season against the Staggies.

Rangers boss Philippe Clement shouldn’t be blamed for his players’ poor pre-season performances

If Cantwell does provide the creative spark he is capable of, Rangers really could be heading for that elusive top spot for the first time under Clement.
