Rangers: Philippe Clement must recall ‘pivotal’ John Lundstram v Ross County after Ayr cameo
Rangers can go top of the Scottish Premiership for the very first time under Philippe Clement when they take on Ross County.
The Gers welcome the Staggies to Ibrox on Wednesday (14 February), with a win by three or more goals for the hosts sending them top of the pile.
It is a massive occasion for the man in the dugout, who really can’t afford to make many wrong decisions for the match, even with Ross County’s struggles this season.
And one decision that Clement should make without hesitation is recalling John Lundstram to his starting XI, with the midfielder having started on the bench against Ayr United last time out.
The former Premier League ace appeared as a 70th-minute substitute in that Scottish Cup clash on Saturday (10 February), and continued his impressive form under Clement with an important cameo.
Rangers need Lundstram v Ross County
Given how he is a key player for the boss, Lundstram was given a rest for the majority of the game against Ayr, particularly given how he played the entire 90 minutes in the previous match against Aberdeen.
And that was a game in which he had a major impact in various areas, with the midfielder completing 85% of his passes, one of which was key, as well as making two clearances and three tackles, with the latter figure being the highest of any Gers player [Sofascore].

It was a display that caught the eye of Sky Sports pundit Kenny Miller, who claimed Lundstram has been the “most pivotal” player since Clement took over in the dugout.
He really has been crucial for the Belgian in many different ways, with the defensive-minded midfield man even helping out in the final third with one goal and four assists this season [Transfermarkt].
In other Rangers news, Clement held talks with the Gers board after an “atrocious” incident at Ibrox.
