Rangers call for immediate meeting with Neil Doncaster and Murdoch McLennan
Rangers are among several SPFL clubs who have called for a meeting with the league’s chief executive Neil Doncaster and chairman Murdoch McLennan to address independent governance issues.
This was shared on X by Daily Record journalist Andy Newport, with Aberdeen, Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnstone and St Mirren joining Gers in their calls.
An official document was sent to the SPFL chiefs, stating that the clubs believe it to be in the best interest of transparency and governance that the chairman and chief executive meet with their shareholders.
All SPFL clubs have been invited to attend the meeting, which is set to take place on 27 February, to address their issues and concerns surrounding the Independent Governance Review.
Rangers among SPFL clubs taking aim at the board
This news has emerged following an initial letter sent to the chiefs following serious concerns over the transparency and independence of the governance report after only one member club was allowed any input into the investigation.
David Edgar, host of the Heart & Hand podcast, insisted that the other SPFL clubs are now finally waking up to how poorly the league is run by those at the top, with Rangers having taken issue with several decisions.
Should Doncaster and McLennan agree to meet with the clubs, we may finally get some transparency about the decision-making at the top of the Scottish game, with it previously having been shrouded in concern and mystery due to a lack of authority.

At times the Light Blues appear to be ostracised from the rest of the Scottish football pyramid and disputes with the authorities give the feeling of being left on the outside looking in, but now they have been joined by their fellow top-flight clubs.
In other Rangers news, John Hartson has been wowed by the club’s recruitment.
