Rangers embarrassed as BBC Sport poll results come in, Celtic fans will celebrate

Rangers and Celtic have been battling it out on and off the pitch for years, with the duo currently involved in another exciting title race.

The Bhoys lead the way in the Scottish Premiership table with 61 points, with the Gers in second with 58. The former also have a better goal difference.

Philippe Clement’s side do, however, have a game in hand over their fierce rivals, which has put plenty of pressure on the Belgian’s opposite number Brendan Rodgers.

New Aberdeen boss Neil Warnock has now joined the party in Scotland, with the manager believing that his club, along with Hearts and Hibernian, can bridge the gap on the Old Firm rivals over time.

But for the time being the Glasgow pair are well above the rest, and that view is shared by BBC Sport readers. Their thoughts are, however, damning for Rangers, with a poll involving over 17,000 people finding that Celtic are the biggest club in Scotland [BBC Sport, 13 February].

Rangers beaten by Celtic in the polls

The Bhoys came in at number one, with their Old Firm rivals Rangers voted as the second biggest club in the country. Following them were Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.

And completing the top 10 were Dundee United (sixth), Motherwell (seventh), Dundee (eighth), Kilmarnock (ninth) and St Johnstone (tenth).

All sorts of questions do, of course, arise from such a poll, but Celtic fans will undoubtedly claim this as another victory over their Glasgow counterparts.

But the important crown is yet to be won, with a highly-anticipated title race between the two Scottish giants incoming.
